Description

Traveling Construction Superintendent

Etzel Engineer and Build, Inc.

Location: Nationwide Travel | Projects Across the U.S.

Compensation: Approximately $100,000–$150,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus performance-based bonus, vehicle allowance, per diem, and benefits

Build Complex Projects. Lead the Field.

Etzel Engineer and Build, Inc. is seeking experienced Traveling Construction Superintendents to lead projects throughout the United States, with a particular focus on mission-critical, data center, high-reliability, and complex commercial construction.

This is a hands-on field leadership position for a Superintendent who can take ownership of day-to-day site operations, coordinate multiple trades, drive the project schedule, maintain a safe and organized jobsite, and represent Etzel professionally with clients, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.

Etzel is a growing construction firm with an established reputation in the High Reliability and Mission Critical markets. We are committed to delivering challenging projects while building lasting relationships with our clients, subcontractors, vendors, and project partners.

What You’ll Do

Lead day-to-day field operations from mobilization through project closeout.

Coordinate subcontractors, field personnel, vendors, deliveries, and multiple trades to keep projects moving.

Own the field schedule and proactively identify potential delays, conflicts, and sequencing issues.

Prepare and manage weekly 3-week look-ahead schedules.

Maintain strong jobsite safety standards and ensure work is performed in accordance with project requirements.

Coordinate site inspections, testing, field layout, and survey activities.

Monitor field labor, materials, and other jobsite costs.

Maintain accurate daily reports and documentation of jobsite activities.

Lead and participate in project meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, clients, engineers, and other stakeholders.

Identify and resolve field challenges before they impact schedule, quality, or client expectations.

Maintain jobsite organization and security.

Partner closely with the Project Manager throughout construction and manage field responsibilities through punch list, closeout, and warranty.

Serve as a professional on-site representative of Etzel Engineer and Build.

What We’re Looking For

5+ years of commercial construction experience, ideally in a Superintendent or comparable field leadership role.

Proven ability to independently manage construction activities and subcontractors in the field.

Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, and major building trades.

Mission-critical, data center, high-reliability, healthcare, or technically complex project experience strongly preferred.

Experience coordinating complex MEP systems is highly desirable, particularly within data center or mission-critical environments.

Strong scheduling, organization, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to build productive relationships with owners, clients, design teams, inspectors, subcontractors, and field personnel.

Comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and project scheduling software.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively throughout the United States.

OSHA 30 preferred.

First Aid/CPR/AED, forklift, and aerial lift certifications preferred.

Travel & Schedule

This is a nationwide traveling position. Etzel considers Western Pennsylvania its local market but performs projects in multiple states throughout the country. Candidates must be comfortable traveling and working on-site for assigned projects.

Typical schedules are Monday through Friday, with four 10-hour days utilized on some traveling assignments when project conditions allow.

Compensation & Benefits

Etzel offers a competitive compensation package based on experience and project background, including:

Approximately $100,000–$150,000 base salary

Performance-based incentive/bonus program

Vehicle allowance

Per diem for travel

Company phone

Medical benefits
