Data Center HRP, AWS Builder Experience Team, BeXT AIS
Application completed on Amazon
About This Role
Join Amazon's Builder Experience Team (BeXT) as a Senior Data Center HR Partner
and make every day better for the Builders who power AWS. This is a 100% on-site
role where you'll serve as the strategic HR partner to cluster operations
leadership across multiple clusters. You'll operate with significant autonomy —
applying senior judgment in precedent-setting situations, designing scalable
mechanisms, and coaching site leadership teams through the most complex people
challenges in a rapidly growing business.
What we are looking for:
Adaptability. Manage multiple scenarios across clusters utilizing HR expertise,
consulting skills, and influence — often in precedent-setting situations where
no clear playbook exists.
High Judgement. Make high-stakes decisions independently in ambiguous,
multi-stakeholder situations. Navigate complexity with composure and serve as a
go-to advisor for HRPs and site leadership.
Strategic Thinking. Connect sentiment trends, workforce data, and operational
signals across clusters to identify systemic patterns. Translate cross-cluster
insights into scalable recommendations that shape leadership action.
Influencing. Influence multiple levels of the organization across clusters —
from builders to senior site leaders and cross-functional partners — without
direct authority. Lead integrated people strategies through partnership.
Coaching. Develop site leadership capability at scale — designing structured
coaching approaches and building manager strength across a portfolio of leaders.
Key job responsibilities
Builder Advocacy: Build trust through consistent floor/onsite presence, site
walks & gemba walks across multiple clusters. Ensure execution and efficacy of
onsite listening mechanisms, identifying and leading strategies based on risk
patterns. Foster and role model an environment of inclusion for all Builders,
ensuring they feel fully engaged in their work and valued for who they are.
Independently manage relationships with employee representative boards.
Strategic Partnership: Serve as the primary HR partner to cluster operations
leadership across multiple clusters, developing proactive strategies and goals
focused on the Builder experience. Perform cross-cluster systemic risk detection
— connecting sentiment trends, workforce data, and operational signals to
provide recommendations to site leadership and HRBPs. Coordinate cross-cluster
communications in partnership with site leadership. Present at monthly All
Manager and All Team Meetings.
HR Expertise: Apply senior judgment to problem-solve across talent management,
performance management, compensation, and employee relations — including
precedent-setting cases where policy is insufficient or ambiguous. Lead
high-complexity employee relations matters, navigating Amazon Policies with
senior judgment. Lead workplace investigations in collaboration with Builder
Relations and Labor Relations. Drive resolution of systemic pay, internal
transfer, and hiring defects in partnership with central teams. Build procedural
policy/governance standards (e.g., SOPs) designed for adoption across clusters.
Leadership Development: Design and deliver scalable manager capability programs,
coaching site leadership through decision-making with empathy and sound
judgment. Identify development opportunities through data, sentiment patterns,
and onsite observation. Educate leaders on HR operating model standards and
drive adoption across clusters. Support interviews for site manager and
technical manager roles.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with HRBPs, Centers of Excellence
(COEs), Employee Relations, and Labor Relations to deliver integrated people
strategies across multiple clusters. Partner with New Hire Experience teams on
orientation, onboarding, and lifecycle support for new site launches. Mentor
HRPs and drive peer enablement. Manage through ambiguity in a fast-paced,
continuously innovating environment.
Role Requirements
This is a 100% Onsite role and requires the ability to travel to assigned Data
Center sites across multiple clusters within a region (estimated 30–40% travel).
Data Center environments are 24/7 operational facilities; flexibility to support
off-shift populations and respond to time-sensitive people matters is expected.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports; leadership is
demonstrated through influence, mentorship, and cross-functional partnership.
A day in the life
You'll conduct site walks across clusters with Operations, Safety, and
Deployment leadership — staying close to what's happening on the ground while
maintaining the altitude to spot patterns across sites. You'll analyze sentiment
data and roundtable feedback to detect systemic risk, then partner with cluster
leadership to translate those patterns into action. You'll coach site leaders
through complex, high-stakes people decisions, lead workplace investigations,
and design mechanisms and SOPs that drive consistency across your portfolio.
You'll mentor HRPs, coordinate with cross-functional partners on integrated
people strategies, and manage employee representative board relationships
independently. Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources,
Human Resources Management, Labor Relations, Business/Management, Psychology, or
a related field
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience in HR business
partner, HR generalist, or HR site partner roles
- Experience supporting hourly/frontline populations of 100+ employees in an
operations or manufacturing environment
- Experience leading workforce planning and people strategy through
organizational change (site launches, expansions, restructuring, or closures)
- Demonstrated experience in employee relations including conducting
investigations and managing complex, high-risk ER cases
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment law Preferred
Qualifications: - Master's degree in Human Resources Management
- Experience assessing management and executive talent
- Experience developing and administering HR compensation plans
- Experience in human resources with companies supporting 250-500 or more
associates
- Master's degree in business, HR, or a related field
- Experience in data center, critical infrastructure, construction, or
technology operations environments
- Experience supporting a multi-site or multi-cluster scope across a geographic
region
- Track record of building scalable HR programs, mechanisms, or standard work
from scratch in a greenfield or high-growth environment
- Strong data analytics capability — experience using workforce data to drive
insights and inform people strategy
- Experience partnering with and influencing senior leadership
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
