About This Role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a fast-paced computing technology company and the

As we continue our rapid expansion across the Asia-Pacific region to support the

demands of our customers, we're seeking an exceptional Data Center Operations

Manager to join our Melbourne (MEL) cluster operations and drive operational

excellence at scale.

As part of our infrastructure management team, you'll be a proven

technology-focused leader with a passion for devising innovative concepts and

strategies that will take AWS Data Center Operations to the next level. This is

a high-impact leadership role where you'll collaborate with, lead, and mentor

diverse teams of skilled data center technicians with a variety of capabilities,

driving strategic initiatives and ensuring uptime for critical infrastructure

supporting AWS customers globally.

This position will be responsible for data center operations with a relentless

focus on continuous improvement to ensure we continue to deliver the highest

level of service to our customers. As a successful applicant, you will get to

manage the world's largest computing infrastructure. Every day you will innovate

and help us solve exciting, challenging, and complex problems—managing complex

technical escalations, implementing innovative solutions that set new standards

for data center operations across the region, and driving for operational

excellence in all areas of your role.

Key job responsibilities

Managing and developing teams of efficient Data Center Technicians, providing

both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring highest levels of

performance

Maintaining existing co-located and in-house Data Centers.

Help build and bring online new Data Centers.

Constantly improving all our processes and procedures. We believe there is

nothing we cannot improve.

Assisting & managing relationships with external vendors & contractors.

Liaising with internal teams & management groups.

Ensuring we adhere to and exceed local Health & Safety standards in all our Data

Centers.

Creating and maintaining metrics of all aspects of our Data Centers and

utilizing those metrics to drive positive improvements.

Assisting in implementing service methodologies that include incident

management, problem management, change management, capacity management. Basic

Qualifications: - 3+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical

environment, or 3+ years of data center engineering or operations experience

- Experience in people management and team development

- 1+ years of project delivery experience

- Experience working in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, or experience

communicating complex information and solutions to senior stakeholders and

influencing decisions

- Experience in training, performance management and coaching/mentoring

Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in engineering, management, or

technology, or Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics,

mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent

- Experience in a data center or other critical environment

- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment

- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification

- Experience with Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma methodologies

- Experience hiring candidates, mentoring and developing employees in their

careers

- Experience using English communication skills, both written and verbal, to

foster seamless interaction with stakeholders at all levels

- Experience in similar environments, or experience working with and managing

third party vendors
