Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Regional Design Manager to join its
design team. As a Regional Design Manager, you will be part of a global
engineering leadership team, comprised of highly effective Architects,
Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Security and Control Engineers. AWS
self-performs engineering on the majority of our capacity delivery projects.
This unique vantage point allows the Design Managers to maintain a close
connection with project details and drive project outcomes. You will have impact
on the design direction and ability to improve design delivery for an entire
region, while establishing design procedures and protocols for the development
of future systems. This role is an opportunity to collaborate with many facets
of the AWS organization, external engineering resources and regulatory agencies.

Key job responsibilities
• Lead project teams of discipline leads to deliver quality and globally
consistent data center designs across Americas within schedule and cost
constraints while maintaining a high level of quality.
• Able to influence internal stakeholders, internal customers (operations), and
external consultants to address program wide design changes
• Manage escalations from the design team and collaborate with procurement,
construction and external consultants
• Effectively communicate with AWS Leadership and external project partners,
including the creation, tracking & reporting of metrics related to schedule,
cost, and quality Throughout the lifecycle of the project.
• Think outside of the box to find innovative solutions prior to and during the
construction process to reduce contract change orders without negative impacts
on quality or reliability.
• Drive speed, quality, and simplification by eliminating rework loops, reducing
and automating manual work and hand-offs, identifying and implementing best
practices across the business, and minimizing process variability through
standardization and automation.
• Create global best practice documentation and facilitate sharing across the
globe.
• Ability to motivate others to achieve impeccable quality in an explosive
growth and deadline-driven environment.
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review,
and interfacing with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.
International travel may be needed.

Basic Qualifications: - 5+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in
mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power
generation or oil and gas facilities experience
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Structural, Civil,
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Experience in project management or management consulting including handling
multiple ongoing projects
- Experience in life cycle design projects from design strategy through
execution
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings,
specifications, and submittal documents Preferred Qualifications: - Experience
with building codes and regulations for your region
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into
deployment or mass production
- Experience managing challenging assignments with aggressive schedules
- Experience identifying, mitigating, and managing business risks and tradeoffs
- Professional Engineering or Architectural License

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package
will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final
compensation will be determined based on factors including experience,
qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits

AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health
