About This Role

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation

of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the

cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage,

networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have

continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging

problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we're

looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply

chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.

You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest

standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at

the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive

culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

The Sr. Technical Product Manager creates and drives the next generation of

medium voltage (MV) products, including Medium Voltage Switchgear (MVS) and

Medium Voltage Transformers (MVT), from concept to at-scale global deployment.

This role provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of power

distribution infrastructure and hyper-scale data center growth. The Sr. PM-T

applies their expertise to:

- Design, develop, launch, and support MV switchgear and transformer products

critical to data center electrical infrastructure

- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts for MVS and MVT programs,

coordinating design validation, prototype builds, testing, and production

readiness milestones

- Drive supplier qualification activities, evaluating and onboarding MV

equipment suppliers to meet AWS quality, reliability, and capacity requirements

- Identify and execute cost reduction initiatives across the MV product

portfolio while maintaining or improving product performance and reliability

- Engage with internal and external Amazon customers and support teams to

capture critical medium voltage power distribution needs for current operations,

rack roadmaps, and new data center designs

- Utilize those insights to define product requirements, create a product

vision, and own the product development roadmap for MVS and MVT programs

- Coordinate between multiple teams to develop business cases that substantiate

value, define product prioritization, and outline budget and resources required

to implement product roadmaps

- Drive continuous advancements within MV electrical designs and communicate

technical direction to Sr. Management

- Own and drive the complete product lifecycle from idea conception through

implementation and wide-scale deployment to eventual deprecation

- Work independently in a high-pressure environment with all levels of

leadership and exercise sound judgment where clear guidelines may not exist

This role works closely with a cross-functional team of Product Design Engineers

(PDEs), Product Lifecycle Engineers (PLEs), Structural Engineers, and Technical

Program Managers (TPMs). The PM-T partners with PDEs on new product development,

collaborates with PLEs on customer engagement and lessons learned, and

coordinates with TPMs on first-of-a-kind deployments. The ability to lead across

these disciplines without direct authority is critical to success.

Amazon's vision is to be the world's most customer-centric company, and this

role is key to that vision. These MV technologies are essential for meeting our

customers' expectations for service and value and meeting Amazon's goals for

efficiency, speed, and reliability as we continue expanding our data centers at

hyper-scale speed. We are a smart team of doers who work passionately to apply

advances in data center technology. We will rely on the Sr. PM-T's ability to

understand customer needs and build them into the overall product design and

strategy. The ideal candidate:

- Is passionate about understanding customers' needs and translating them into

MV product requirements

- Has passion for product development, electrical infrastructure design, and

medium voltage power distribution equipment

- Is great at solving problems across technical and commercial domains

- Has the ability to lead multiple products and projects at different stages

while staying organized

- Earns trust and builds relationships with different stakeholders (e.g.,

Engineering, Product Development, Finance, Operations, Suppliers)

- Is comfortable addressing and resolving ambiguity

- Recognizes and appreciates diversity of thought and perspectives

Each day the Sr. PM-T will interact with different teams responsible for

engineering, product development, finance, integration, and operation of these

complex MV technology programs. They prioritize their activities to support data

center product development, identify and resolve problems and blockers, and

focus on the actions that are most impactful for product success.

This role requires travel of 30%+ to manufacturing facilities, AWS engineering

hubs, data center sites, and supplier locations to drive NPI, supplier

qualification, and at-scale deployment.

If you meet these qualifications, exude passion, and enjoy the challenge of

innovative projects at hyper-scale size, this job is for you!

Key job responsibilities

- Manage and own the roadmap for medium voltage switchgear (MVS) and medium

voltage transformer (MVT) products designed for Amazon data centers

- Engage with internal and external Amazon customers and support teams to gain

insights and capture critical medium voltage power distribution needs for the

business today and in the future

- Utilize those insights to identify specific product requirements, create a

product vision, and own the product development roadmap for critical segments of

the data center MV electrical infrastructure

- Coordinate between multiple teams to develop compelling business cases to

substantiate business value, define product prioritization, and outline budget

and resources required to implement product roadmaps

- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) programs from concept through design

validation, testing, and production readiness to ensure on-time product launches

- Drive supplier qualification activities, evaluating and onboarding MV

equipment suppliers to meet AWS quality, reliability, and capacity requirements

- Identify and execute cost reduction initiatives across the MV product

portfolio through design-to-value, material optimization, and manufacturing

process improvements

- Drive continuous advancements and improvements within our data center MV

electrical designs, and communicate technical direction to Sr. Management

- Own and drive the complete product lifecycle from idea conception through

implementation and wide-scale deployment to eventual deprecation

- Develop product features and deployment strategies to improve profitability

and penetration in new applications and use cases

- Work independently in a high-pressure environment with all levels of

leadership and exercise sound judgment where clear guidelines may not exist
