Reports to: HSE Manager / Project Director
Position Purpose
The Project Nurse is employed by CTS Nordics AS to provide occupational healthcare services for employees and contractors working on the Kvandal Project.
The position supports the project's Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) strategy by promoting employee health, preventing occupational illness and injury, providing emergency medical response, supporting mental wellbeing, and conducting alcohol screening in accordance with Norwegian legislation, company procedures and project requirements.
The Project Nurse is an integrated member of the Project HSE Team and contributes to maintaining a safe, healthy and productive workplace within a high-risk construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Occupational Health and Preventive Care
Perform occupational health assessments before mobilisation and throughout the project where required.
Assess workers presenting with illness or injury and provide immediate nursing care until external medical services are available.
Monitor health risks associated with construction activities, including:
Heat stress
Fatigue and sleep deprivation
Musculoskeletal disorders
Occupational exposure and work-related illness
Promote healthy working practices and preventive healthcare initiatives.
Maintain accurate and confidential medical documentation.
2. Mental Health and Wellbeing
Provide confidential wellbeing support and early intervention for employees.
Conduct wellbeing conversations and identify early signs of:
Stress
Anxiety
Depression
Burnout
Fatigue
Reduced wellbeing
Coordinate referrals to occupational health services or external healthcare providers where appropriate.
Participate in post-incident welfare support following serious events or critical incidents.
3. Alcohol Screening
Conduct alcohol screening using approved breathalyser equipment in accordance with CTS Nordics AS procedures.
Ensure testing is carried out:
Professionally
Respectfully
Confidentially
With full traceability and documentation
Manage positive test results in accordance with project procedures, including:
Immediate removal from safety-critical work where required
Notification of authorised management representatives
Documentation and reporting
Coordination of follow-up actions
Alcohol screening shall only be performed in accordance with applicable Norwegian legislation, the Working Environment Act, privacy legislation (GDPR), documented company procedures, collective agreements where applicable, and any local agreements governing workplace testing.
4. Emergency Response
Act as the primary medical responder during medical emergencies on site.
Provide first aid and emergency treatment until ambulance or emergency medical services arrive.
Participate in emergency preparedness planning and drills.
Ensure medical equipment, first aid stations and emergency supplies remain operational and adequately stocked.
5. HSE Collaboration
Work closely with:
Project Management
HSE Department
Construction Managers
Supervisors
Contractors
Participate in HSE meetings and incident investigations.
Deliver health awareness initiatives and promote a positive safety culture.
6. Documentation and Reporting
Maintain confidential medical records.
Document health assessments, treatments and incidents.
Produce monthly reports and health statistics for the Project HSE Team.
Identify trends and recommend preventive actions to improve workforce health and wellbeing.
Required Qualifications
Registered Nurse with valid professional authorisation.
Previous experience within one or more of the following is preferred:
Occupational Health
Emergency Nursing
Industrial Health Services
Construction Projects
Offshore or other high-risk industries
Good understanding of occupational health legislation and HSE management systems.
Experience with emergency response and first aid.
Fluent in Norwegian and able to communicate effectively in English.
Additional Competence Requirements
The successful candidate should have documented competence or practical experience in:
Occupational health nursing.
Mental health support and early intervention techniques.
Emergency medical response and triage.
Alcohol screening using approved breathalyser equipment.
Confidential handling of sensitive personal information.
Medical documentation in accordance with Norwegian legislation.
Understanding of the legal framework governing workplace alcohol and drug testing, including the Norwegian Working Environment Act, applicable regulations, GDPR requirements, and CTS Nordics AS internal procedures.
Experience from large construction projects, infrastructure projects, energy facilities or hyperscale data centre developments will be considered a significant advantage.

Working Conditions

Daily work is performed within an active construction environment requiring compliance with all site safety rules.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) shall be worn as required.

Availability during normal project operating hours and emergency response situations.
