We are looking for an experienced Data Center Operations Engineer to join our growing team in Milan and help shape the future of our flagship project, Colosseum, one of Europe’s most powerful AI supercomputers, currently in development. Designed to run our proprietary AI models at scale, it forms the compute backbone behind the intelligence we deliver to the world’s most demanding industries. To achieve the highest level of performance, datacenter infrastructure has become a tightly integrated part of supercomputers where power, cooling and the building management systems provide critical consumable resources that should be optimized like any other resource in the system to extract maximum performance in a reliable way. We also strive towards optimal responsible embedding in the local environment. Tuning the heat recovery systems to optimize for the community district heating systems and tuning the power systems to support and stabilize the local grid are critically important to deliver on our societal responsibilities. In this role, you will maintain the infrastructure and ensure its reliability and performance. You will respond to incidents and support troubleshooting and resolution activities when issues arise. You will also contribute to the architecture and design of next-generation systems, helping shape future infrastructure evolution. A key part of the role involves automating processes, integrating systems, and implementing ongoing improvements and optimizations. As a part of the team, you will stay up to date with the latest technologies and industry trends, actively bringing new ideas. You will collaborate closely with other team members to evaluate and implement these improvements effectively. What You Have Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, or a related field. At least 6 years of experience as a Data Center Operations Engineer or in similar roles. Certification to work with MV/LV electrical systems (Medium Voltage / Low Voltage) Certifications (PES / PAV / PEI or equivalent, DCIS or equivalent) Strong understanding of data center operations and critical infrastructure environments Solid knowledge of industry standards, including ISO 50001 (Energy Management Systems) Hands-on experience with data center monitoring, control, and integration systems, including BMC for the IT hardware and related tools Experience with infrastructure monitoring and management protocols such as Redfish, SNMP, and MQTT Working knowledge of Python for automation and integration tasks Experience with modern system integration frameworks and APIs (e.g. MCP or similar technologies) Who You Are A versatile engineer, comfortable operating in complex and fast-paced environments. We offer a competitive salary, as well as an opportunity to receive company equity. The typical salary for this role ranges between € 50.000 and € 70.000. As you gain experience and make more significant contributions to the business, your compensation will be reviewed to match your impact. Additionally, depending on your seniority and your performance, you'll have the opportunity to receive stock options, with a variable value calculated from your base salary, giving you the chance to directly participate in the company’s success.
