About This Role

Always wanted to challenge the obvious and make great things happen? At Goodman we create space for your greatness.

Goodman develops, owns and manages logistics facilities and data centres that support the movement of goods and the digital economy. As our Continental European data centre portfolio grows, we are strengthening the IT infrastructure and connectivity capability required to support secure, resilient and scalable operations.

The Data Centre IT Manager is responsible for defining, delivering and operating the IT and network connectivity environment for a cluster of Data Centres in CE. The role leads the setup and lifecycle management of LAN, WAN, internet, cloud and inter-data-centre connectivity, including carrier services, structured cabling, fibre infrastructure and customer or partner interconnections. Acting as the central technical and commercial coordination point, the role works with Data Centre Operations, Security, Engineering, corporate IT, customers, carriers and third-party suppliers to deliver resilient, secure and supportable solutions.

More concretely, this means you will get the opportunity to own and develop:

IT infrastructure and network strategy

Define and maintain the data centre IT, LAN, WAN and connectivity architecture, standards and technology roadmap in alignment with operational, cybersecurity and business requirements.

Translate business, customer and operational requirements into scalable, resilient and supportable technical solutions.

Establish technical standards for network equipment, IP addressing, segmentation, structured cabling, fibre pathways, rack connectivity, cross-connects and carrier diversity.

Implementation and project delivery

Lead the design, procurement, installation, configuration, testing and handover of IT and connectivity solutions for new data centres, expansions and operational upgrades.

Coordinate implementation plans, budgets, risks, dependencies, change windows, commissioning activities and operational acceptance.

Ensure complete as-built documentation, logical and physical network diagrams, asset records, configurations, test results and support procedures are handed over and maintained.

Network and connectivity operations

Manage the availability, capacity, performance and lifecycle of LAN, WAN, internet, cloud, out-of-band and inter-data-centre connectivity services.

Oversee monitoring, incident resolution, problem management, maintenance, patching, configuration control, backup and recovery of network services.

Maintain resilient connectivity through diverse carriers, routes, equipment and power sources, with tested failover and recovery procedures.

Third-party supplier management

Select, onboard and manage network carriers, managed service providers, installation contractors, hardware vendors and specialist consultants.

Set clear scopes, service levels, deliverables, acceptance criteria and escalation paths, and monitor supplier performance against contractual commitments.

Manage quotations, purchase requirements, budgets, renewals, licences, warranties and commercial risks, challenging cost and performance where required.

Security, governance and stakeholder coordination

Ensure network and connectivity solutions comply with information-security policies, customer requirements, physical-security controls and applicable data centre standards.

Own technical governance, change control, access management, configuration baselines, risk registers and audit evidence for the IT environment.

Coordinate Data Centre Operations, Security, Engineering, corporate IT, customers and suppliers during delivery, incidents, planned works and continuous improvement initiatives.

Do you recognise yourself?

A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, telecommunications, network engineering or a related discipline; equivalent substantial professional experience will also be considered.

At least ten years of experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, network engineering or data centre connectivity, including a minimum of five years in a leadership or service-owner position.

Demonstrated experience setting up IT infrastructure and LAN, WAN, internet, cloud and data centre connectivity in new-build, expansion or migration environments.

Strong technical knowledge of routing, switching, VLANs, IP addressing, segmentation, firewalls, structured cabling, fibre optics, cross-connects, carrier services, resilient design and network monitoring.

Experience in mission-critical facilities, data centres, telecommunications, cloud infrastructure or another high-availability technical environment.

Proven ability to procure, contract, mobilise and performance-manage third-party suppliers, including carriers, managed service providers, installation contractors and technology vendors.

Strong project and service-management capability, including budgeting, risk control, change management, testing, operational handover, incident escalation and lifecycle planning.

Strong stakeholder-management and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to translate technical matters for operational teams, customers, executives and commercial stakeholders.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with disciplined documentation, reporting, negotiation, analytical and problem-solving capability.

Preferred professional certifications: Cisco CCNP or CCIE; Juniper JNCIP or JNCIE; ITIL; Certified Data Centre Professional or equivalent; and relevant information-security, cloud or project-management credentials.
