ABOUT THE JOB:
Google isn't just a software company. The Hardware Operations team is
responsible for monitoring the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure behind
Google's powerful search technology. As an Operations Technician, you'll
install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (like servers and
its components) and server software (like Google's Linux cluster). You'll also
take on the configuration of more complex components such as networks, routers,
hubs, bridges, switches and networking protocols. You'll participate in or lead
small project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency
plans. A typical day involves manual movement and installation of racks, and
while it can sometimes be physically demanding, you are excited to work with
infrastructure that is at the cutting-edge of computer technology.
As a Data Center Technician for our Google Cloud region, your duties range from
the physical deployment of technology to working closely with various
stakeholders. You will ensure that our goals, missions and projects are
successfully delivered, and, more importantly, that they are repeatable across
our global array of data centers. A typical day involves movement and
installation of equipment, and while it can sometimes be physically demanding,
you will work with computer technology to ensure quality and reliability.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and repair advanced server hardware
and server software.
* Manage and set up complex network components, including routers, bridges, and
switches.
* Lead or contribute to local installation projects, create contingency plans,
and collaborate with stakeholders.
* Ensure mission goals and deployments are reliably executed and repeatable
across Google's global data center network.
* Manage equipment movement and installation to uphold data center quality and
operational uptime.
