About This Role

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training

in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

* 9 years of years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical/Heating Ventilating

and Air Conditioning (HVAC), or controls experience in an

industrial/commercial environment.

* 3 years of experience in a data center or facilities environment.

* Experience managing incident response, troubleshooting, or emergency

operations for critical facility infrastructure.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical

Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, or Reliability

Engineering, or a related field.

* Experience communicating effectively with all levels of the organization,

including executives.

* Experience with reliability centered maintenance and in engineering.

* Ability to forecast resource requirements in a data-driven way.

ABOUT THE JOB:

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated

electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and HVAC systems in the world.

Facilities Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support

physical facilities conditions. Some of these duties will include heating and

cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical

distribution and control and monitoring systems. You regularly help inspect,

maintain and repair various data center systems such as piping and non-critical

electrical or mechanical system components). You provide daily assistance to

senior technicians as you read blueprints/schematics, conduct tours of systems

and assess their working order.

As an advocate for best practices, you develop creative approaches to reducing

operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. You ensure

that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying

problems and making repairs quickly. In emergency situations or abnormal

conditions, you manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize

the recovery time from failures.

As a Technical Operations Manager, you will be involved in nearly every aspect

of co-location operations for our electrical, cooling, and IT infrastructure.

You will partner with the Google data center engineering teams, hardware

operations, network infrastructure, and third-party data center vendors and

operators with a focus on operability, maintainability, and reliability. You

will represent the operations organization, and will be responsible to ensure

operability, maintainability, and reliability are critical criteria for Google

assets.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills,

experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $138000 - $200000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Drive the continuous improvement and certification of critical equipment

operations, partnering with third-party vendors to validate and optimize

site-level procedures.

* Advocate for global compliance initiatives, analyzing cross-regional data and

holding external partners accountable to Google's rigorous design standards

and project schedules.

* Oversee critical facility operations and incident response protocols,

proactively mitigating operational risks and directing root-cause analyses

for any site excursions.

* Direct third-party facility operations to ensure strict adherence to Google's

global maintenance programs, actively identifying opportunities to elevate

baseline policies.

* Formulate and execute site-level strategies to optimize operational

expenditure (OpEx), maximize infrastructure efficiency, and advance Google's

environmental sustainability goals.
