Overview
The Data Center Fiber Technician I is responsible for assisting with the installation, termination, testing, and documentation of fiber optic cabling systems in mission-critical data center environments. This role performs work under the direction of senior technicians and project leads while maintaining compliance with BICSI standards, customer specifications, and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
Install and route single-mode and multimode fiber optic cabling.
Assist with fiber terminations and fusion splicing.
Pull, dress, secure, and label fiber optic cables.
Install patch panels, fiber enclosures, cassettes, and cable management systems.
Perform basic fiber testing using optical power meters, visual fault locators (VFL), and continuity testers.
Assist senior technicians with OTDR testing and troubleshooting.
