Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than one hundred datacenters and one million servers. Our foundation is built upon and managed by a team of subject matter experts, who work tirelessly to support digital services for more than one billion customers and twenty million businesses in over ninety countries worldwide.

Within CO+I, the Core Datacenter Services (CDS) team is responsible for improving the availability, resilience, and efficiency of Microsoft’s global cloud infrastructure. We are seeking a Senior Director, MRO Supply Chain - Datacenter Operations to lead the end-to-end supply chain for maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) spare parts supporting datacenters globally. Additionally, this role has responsibility for destruction equipment strategy and qualification that includes the spare part planning and fulfilment of maintenance standards within our datacenters and circular centers. This senior leader will set the vision, operating model, and transformation agenda for the function, building the capabilities, systems, partnerships, and talent required to plan, source, position, move, replenish, repair, recover, and manage critical spare parts throughout their lifecycle. The role is accountable for supply and demand planning, logistics, warehousing, supply network design, inventory strategy, supplier execution, and service performance in support of reliable datacenter operations and Microsoft’s AI and cloud growth.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities

Set and communicate the global end-to-end MRO spare-parts supply chain vision, strategy, standards, and multi-year transformation roadmap, aligned to CO+I priorities, datacenter reliability, AI capacity growth, company goals, financial objectives, and customer commitments.

Lead, develop, and inspire a geographically distributed organization of supply chain professionals and leaders. Establish clear accountability, strengthen succession and talent pipelines, coach and mentor team members and leaders, and create an inclusive, high-performance culture with efficient processes through significant change.

Own end-to-end supply chain performance for MRO spare parts across demand and supply planning, sourcing and supplier execution, inventory management, warehousing, transportation and logistics, supply network design, deployment, returns, repair loops, recovery, and end-of-life disposition.

Develop and execute supply-planning targets and replenishment standards across all nodes in the supply chain. Deliver measurable improvement in availability, On Time in Full (OTIF), inventory turns, excess and obsolescence, expedite cost, and total cost to serve.

Ensure inventory is available at the right place, at the right time, and at the right cost, expertly balancing business and customer needs to protect datacenter uptime and provide seamless customer experiences.

Design and optimize the global supply network, including stocking locations, replenishment flows, service levels, lead-time strategies, transportation models, and resilience measures. Balance availability, risk, cost, sustainability, and working capital.

Lead day-to-day and strategic relationships with third parties, suppliers, and logistics partners to ensure safety, security, quality, resilience, compliance, capacity, and service performance while maximizing execution and driving continuous improvement.

Escalate and resolve field supply chain issues; prioritize service based on material lead times, criticality, and availability; analyze material consumption trends; review engineering change orders affecting spare parts; and ensure hardware compatibility and lifecycle readiness.

Define risk-based strategies for critical spares, long-lead components, lifecycle transitions, repair and return loops, substitutions, constrained supply, and excess and obsolete inventory.

Implement measurement frameworks and performance-management mechanisms that enable data-driven decision-making, evaluate business and supplier performance, identify optimization opportunities, and provide clear ownership and disciplined execution.

Serve as the executive expert in the tools and processes used to manage supply. Lead the transformation of processes, data, governance, and digital capabilities through automation, integrated systems, advanced analytics, scenario planning, and scalable inventory solutions.

Define and drive process changes, standardization, and maturity improvements. Lead complex change-management efforts, influence teams to adopt new ways of working, and collaborate cross-functionally to improve tools, processes, and service delivery.

Build executive-level relationships across Sourcing, Finance, Datacenter Operations, Engineering, Security, Sustainability, regional teams, suppliers, and other disciplines. Resolve complex trade-offs, influence investment decisions, and align stakeholders behind enterprise priorities.

Ensure supply chain operations meet Microsoft safety, security, regulatory, and business-continuity requirements, with safe and secure solutions for internal and external customer commitments as the highest priority.
