Oracle’s Catalyst Foundations program is designed for people who are ready to
learn, including military veterans looking to translate their skills and
experience into a career in technology.
Catalyst Foundations is a 12-week paid work and training program that prepares
participants for a career in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) data center
operations. Through hands-on experience, technical training, mentorship, and
career development, you'll build the foundational skills needed to succeed as a
Data Center Technician.
The goal of the program is for trainees to transition to permanent full-time
Data Center Technician positions, dependent on successfully completing the
program.
Whether you’re a military veteran transitioning to a civilian career, a recent
high school graduate, or someone with experience in retail, hospitality,
construction, manufacturing, logistics, or another field, we encourage you to
apply if you’re excited to learn and build a career in technology. Prior
technical experience or a degree is not required.
What you’ll learn
• During the program, you'll receive hands-on training while working alongside
experienced technicians.
• You'll develop foundational knowledge in server hardware, data center
operations, networking fundamentals, Linux, cloud infrastructure, safety and
operational best practices, troubleshooting methodologies, and inventory and
logistics operations.
• You'll also receive coaching, mentorship, and opportunities to continue
developing your technical and professional skills throughout the program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
What you’ll do during the program
Data center operations and hardware support
• Perform rack-and-stack activities for servers, network devices, and supporting
infrastructure.
• Assist with server deployments, hardware upgrades, component replacements, and
decommissioning activities.
• Perform basic break/fix tasks following approved procedures.
• Support hardware lifecycle management.
• Learn troubleshooting techniques and escalate issues when appropriate.
Network installation and cabling
• Install, organize, and label copper and fiber cabling.
• Assist with network equipment installations.
• Verify cable integrity.
• Learn networking fundamentals and data center communication standards.
Ticket management and operational support
• Complete assigned work using approved ticketing systems.
• Document completed work and operational activities.
• Follow service-level agreements (SLAs), operational procedures, and escalation
processes.
Inventory and logistics
• Receive, stage, track, audit, and ship equipment.
• Maintain inventory records.
• Support warehouse and material handling activities.
Safety and compliance
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Method of Procedures (MOPs),
and safety requirements.
• Follow Oracle security, compliance, and change management processes.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Who should apply
Objective Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum 18 years of age
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated interest in technology and a desire to build a career in data
center operations.
• Ability to learn technical concepts and follow documented procedures with
precision.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Basic understanding of mathematical and computational concepts.
• Basic computer skills. Experience with a MAC is a plus though not required.
• Professional attitude with a customer-focused mindset.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely.
• Ability to climb ladders, work at height, and operate in confined spaces as
required.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in a data center environment,
including standing or walking for most of the shift.
• Ability to work non-standard schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays,
and shift-based assignments.
• Access to reliable personal transportation to travel to, and between, assigned
data center buildings during the shift, as needed.
• Ability to travel locally and up to 5% domestically as required.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. For clarity purposes, this
means that Oracle is not in a position now, or in the future, to offer US
immigration sponsorship. This includes, but is not limited to, support of H-1B,
TN, O-1, green card, or F-1 e.g. EAD, OPT, CPT, I-20, F-1 visa stamp etc.
Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to computer hardware, networking, electronics, construction,
logistics, military operations, manufacturing, telecommunications, or related
technical environments.
• Experience working in team-based operational environments.
• Technical coursework, certifications, vocational training, or related hands-on
experience.
• Basic understanding of computer hardware and technology concepts.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to follow established procedures under supervision.
• Demonstrates learning agility and openness to feedback.
• Strong safety awareness and operational discipline.
• Ability to contribute positively within diverse and inclusive teams.
This is a 12-week temporary assignment and is not eligible for paid time off
(PTO) or relocation.
