Oracle is seeking an experienced Power Generation Manager – The Power Generation
Manager leads the strategy, reliability, maintenance, and operational readiness
of backup power generation systems supporting mission-critical data center
infrastructure. This role is the organization’s reciprocating-engine and
generator subject matter expert, responsible for ensuring resilient, safe, and
compliant operation of emergency power systems across the fleet.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
Power Operations & Reliability
* Lead and develop a team of power-generation subject matter experts, providing
technical mentorship, performance coaching, and support across regions.
* Own the global maintenance and reliability program for backup generators and
all associated reciprocating-engine systems, including diesel, natural gas,
dual-fuel, and other engine-driven emergency power equipment.
* Establish and track fleet health metrics, reliability trends, failure modes,
maintenance performance, and lifecycle risks; translate findings into
prioritized improvement actions.
* Develop and maintain maintenance scopes of work, operating procedures,
technical standards, inspection plans, and service-provider requirements for
generators and supporting equipment.
* Provide deep technical oversight for reciprocating engines and generator
systems, including prime movers, alternators, controls, starting systems,
fuel systems, lubrication, cooling, air intake, turbocharging, exhaust,
emissions equipment, and switchgear interfaces.
* Lead complex root-cause investigations following generator failures, near
misses, or adverse reliability trends; implement fleet-wide containment,
corrective, and preventive actions.
* Partner with original equipment manufacturers, vendors, and service providers
to resolve systemic equipment issues, secure warranty or remediation
commitments, and verify completion of corrective actions.
* Collaborate with data center operations, critical facilities engineering,
lifecycle management, construction, and procurement teams to improve
backup-power design, operability, maintainability, and long-term reliability.
* Deliver technical training for critical-facility engineers on operating,
maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, and safely responding to issues
involving emergency power systems.
* Drive continuous-improvement initiatives that reduce operating costs, improve
maintenance effectiveness, and increase generator availability and design
reliability.
* Ensure maintenance and operating programs meet applicable safety,
environmental, regulatory, emissions, and business-continuity requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a
related technical discipline; or 10+ years of directly relevant,
progressively responsible experience in reciprocating-engine power
generation, critical facilities, industrial power, or a comparable
high-availability environment.
* Extensive experience managing or supporting reciprocating-engine-driven
backup power systems in data centers, critical facilities, industrial plants,
healthcare, utilities, or similarly high-availability environments.
* Deep technical expertise with emergency generators and reciprocating engines,
including diesel, natural-gas, and dual-fuel applications.
* Strong working knowledge of engines, alternators, controls, fuel delivery,
cooling, lubrication, intake and exhaust systems, turbochargers, batteries,
starting systems, and generator paralleling or transfer interfaces.
* Demonstrated experience leading failure investigations, reliability
engineering efforts, corrective-action programs, and vendor escalations.
* Proven people-leadership capability, including mentoring and developing
technical experts across geographically distributed teams.
* Strong analytical skills, with experience using maintenance and failure data
to identify trends, develop metrics, and drive reliability improvements.
* Experience creating technical standards, maintenance procedures, scopes of
work, and training programs.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the
ability to influence manufacturers, service providers, engineers, and senior
operational leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience supporting global data center operations and critical-facility
infrastructure.
* Familiarity with CMMS platforms, reliability-centered maintenance,
FMEA/failure-mode analysis, and root-cause methodologies.
* Professional certifications in reliability, power generation, critical
facilities, or project management.
