About This Role

Leads the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring

projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality

standards. Creates, reviews, and maintains documentation, including design

review, commissioning, and problem-solving papers. Implements and oversees

quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design

specifications and industry standards. Conducts detailed site walks and leads

the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects. Identifies

gaps in risk identification and mitigation and develops tailored solutions to

address these gaps. Serves as the primary point of contact between the company

and colocation providers. Selects, negotiates, and manages contracts with

external vendors, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring contract compliance and

performance and construction activities align with the approved design plans and

specifications. Oversees the installation of power, cooling, networking, and

structured cabling systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

Construction Project Management-Project Planning and Execution:

-Leads the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring

projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality

standards.

-Develops and maintains detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation

providers to ensure timely milestone delivery across multiple projects.

-Creates and manages project budgets, optimizing resource allocation to ensure

cost-effective project execution.

-Creates, reviews, and maintains documentation, including design review,

commissioning, and problem-solving papers, ensuring standards are upheld,

documents are managed effectively, and materials are suitable for their intended

purpose.

Construction Project Management-Project Integration and Quality Assurance:

-Implements and oversees quality control processes to ensure all construction

activities meet design specifications and industry standards.

-Collaborates actively in the coordination and integration of tenant fit out

projects, ensuring alignment between different phases of design, construction,

and commissioning.

-Conducts detailed site walks to monitor schedule, coordination, and quality

throughout the life of the project.

-Leads the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects,

ensuring that all systems are operational and meet design specifications.

Risk and Problem Management:

-Evaluates the risk profiles associated with timely project delivery for

multiple projects.

-Identifies gaps in risk identification and mitigation and develops tailored

solutions to address these gaps.

-Develops and implements mitigation strategies for major construction project

risks to ensure project success.

Stakeholder and Vendor Management:

-Serves as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation

providers, facilitating clear and effective communication, and resolving routine

issues independently.

-Develops and maintains key relationships to effectively support internal and

external stakeholders, identifying opportunities for process improvements.

-Selects, negotiates, and manages contracts with external vendors, contractors,

and suppliers, ensuring contract compliance and performance.

Design Coordination and Improvement:

-Collaborates with design teams to ensure that construction activities align

with the approved design plans and specifications, addressing routine design

issues independently.

-Provides comprehensive colocation provider evaluation input for continuous

improvement and identifies opportunities for process enhancements.

-Oversees the installation of power, cooling, networking, and structured cabling

systems, ensuring adherence to quality standards.

-Contributes to the talent development pipeline by participating in candidate

interviews, assessing candidates, and providing hiring recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Job Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

11 years of experience in construction project management

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field AND

7 years of experience in construction project management

Master's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field AND 5

years of experience in construction project management

Doctorate in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field AND 3 years

of experience in construction project management.

Job Skills:

Same skills as prior level plus;

Data Center Infrastructure Construction: Demonstrated experience coordinating

and managing large-scale data center infrastructure buildouts.

Data Center Equipment: Demonstrated experience in installation, maintenance, and

upgrades of data center physical equipment.

Contract Management: Demonstrated ability to manage the execution and compliance

of contracts for goods and services.

Technical Leadership: Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and

mentoring on complex projects.

Business Acumen: Demonstrated business acumen in making strategic decisions

aligned with organizational goals and industry trends.

Quality Assurance: Demonstrated ability to plan and carry out quality assurance

activities for high-standard deliverables.

Technical Writing: Demonstrated proficiency in producing clear and

comprehensible technical documentation for varied audiences.

Conflict Resolution: Demonstrated ability to identify, address, and resolve

conflicts to maintain positive team dynamics.

Negotiation: Demonstrated skill in achieving mutually beneficial agreements

through effective negotiation and communication.

Vendor Management: Demonstrated ability to select, onboard, and manage vendor

relationships to ensure optimal performance.

Financial Management: Demonstrated experience in supporting budget planning,

tracking, and resource management for business success.

Program Management: Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional programs,

leading teams and allocating resources for timely project delivery.

Construction Schedule Management: Demonstrated skill in developing, monitoring,

and adjusting construction project schedules.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

12 years of experience in construction project management

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field AND

8 years of experience in construction project management

Master's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field AND 6

years of experience in construction project management

Doctorate in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field AND 4 years

of experience in construction project management.

Budget Experience:

2 years of experience working with operating budgets and/or project financials.
