We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Head of Mechanical Engineering (HVAC) to lead the development of high-performance, resilient, and innovative cooling and ventilation solutions across our growing European data centre portfolio.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical excellence, people leadership, and client engagement — shaping both engineering solutions and the teams that deliver them.
Responsibilities
As a key member of our design leadership team, you will:
Define and lead the mechanical engineering strategy across multiple high-value projects
Develop and deliver cutting-edge HVAC and thermal management solutions for mission-critical environments
Build and grow a high-performing, multi-location engineering team
Act as a trusted advisor to major clients, influencing design direction at the highest level
Drive innovation in areas such as high-density cooling, sustainability, and modular design
You will play a central role in both engineering delivery and team development, including:
Leading the design and optimisation of HVAC systems for complex data centre environments
Providing hands-on technical leadership on critical and high-risk projects
Developing scalable, efficient, and future-ready engineering solutions
Mentoring and inspiring engineers, building a culture of collaboration and technical excellence
Supporting client engagement, technical workshops, and strategic design discussions
Contributing to business growth, bids, and capability development
Qualifications
Extensive experience in mechanical (HVAC) design within data centres or mission-critical environments
Strong understanding of cooling strategies, thermal management, and system resilience
A passion for developing people and building high-performing teams
The ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, practical, and engaging way
Experience working with major clients and multidisciplinary delivery teams
A commercially aware mindset with an ability to balance performance, risk, and value
Key Attributes:
Degree in Engineering or related discipline
Chartered status (or equivalent) preferred
Passion for technical excellence, leadership, and delivery at scale
