About This Role

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a Senior Data Center Fiber

Deployment Lead to lead data center construction projects delivered by

colocation providers. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are

completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

In this role, you will create, review, and maintain key project documentation,

including design reviews, commissioning plans, and technical problem-solving

documents. You will implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure

construction activities meet design specifications, approved plans, and industry

standards.

You will conduct detailed site walks and lead the startup and commissioning

phases of major data center projects. You will also identify gaps in risk

identification and mitigation, develop tailored solutions, and help ensure

construction activities remain aligned with project requirements.

As the primary point of contact between Oracle and colocation providers, you

will select, negotiate with, and manage external vendors, contractors, and

suppliers. You will ensure contract compliance, monitor vendor performance, and

oversee the installation of power, cooling, networking, and structured cabling

systems.

This role requires to work on-site at Oracle’s Data Center in Abilene, Texas.

Relocation packages are available. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities: 

Construction Project Management - Project Planning and Execution: 

* Leads the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring

projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality

standards. 

* Develops and maintains detailed project schedules, coordinating with

colocation providers to ensure timely milestone delivery across multiple

projects. 

* Creates and manages project budgets, optimizing resource allocation to ensure

cost-effective project execution. 

* Creates, reviews, and maintains documentation, including design review,

commissioning, and problem-solving papers, ensuring standards are upheld,

documents are managed effectively, and materials are suitable for their

intended purpose.

Construction Project Management - Project Integration and Quality Assurance: ng

& Execution: 

* Implements and oversees quality control processes to ensure all construction

activities meet design specifications and industry standards.

* Collaborates actively in the coordination and integration of tenant fit out

projects, ensuring alignment between different phases of design,

construction, and commissioning.

* Conducts detailed site walks to monitor schedule, coordination, and quality

throughout the life of the project.

* Leads the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects,

ensuring that all systems are operational and meet design specifications.

Risk and Problem Management:  

* Evaluates the risk profiles associated with timely project delivery for

multiple projects.

* Identifies gaps in risk identification and mitigation and develops tailored

solutions to address these gaps.

* Develops and implements mitigation strategies for major construction project

risks to ensure project success.

Stakeholder and Vendor Management: 

* Serves as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation

providers, facilitating clear and effective communication, and resolving

routine issues independently. 

* Develops and maintains key relationships to effectively support internal and

external stakeholders, identifying opportunities for process improvements. 

* Selects, negotiates, and manages contracts with external vendors,

contractors, and suppliers, ensuring contract compliance and performance.

Design Coordination and Improvement: 

* Collaborates with design teams to ensure that construction activities align

with the approved design plans and specifications, addressing routine design

issues independently.

* Provides comprehensive colocation provider evaluation input for continuous

improvement and identifies opportunities for process enhancements. 

* Oversees the installation of power, cooling, networking, and structured

cabling systems, ensuring adherence to quality standards.

moderately-sized project or initiative. 

* Efficiently delegates, monitors, and prioritizes work across multiple

projects, providing technical oversight and adjusting plans to address shifts

in resources or timelines.

Collaboration & Execution:   

* Collaborates across the organization to align on expectations and achieve

shared objectives.

*  Leverages understanding of business leaders, stakeholders, and/or customers

to ensure proposed solutions meet their needs. 

* Supports inclusivity by actively seeking and listening to diverse

perspectives, ensuring others feel heard and respected.

Problem Solving: 

* Identifies and addresses moderately complex issues by analyzing a wide range

of data and/or information to identify solutions in accordance with standard

practices.

* Proactively escalates unresolved or critical issues with a thorough

assessment and suggests potential solutions. Reviews, contributes to, and

documents problem solving strategies.

Continuous Learning: 

* Pursues learning opportunities to expand knowledge and skills and/or tools in

new areas and stays abreast of the latest industry trends and best practices.

* Proactively seeks and leverages ongoing feedback and training to improve

skills. 

* Coaches and mentors junior team members, fostering continuous learning and

knowledge sharing within and across teams. 

Continuous Improvement: 

* Develops ideas, recommends updates, and/or collaborates on the implementation

of process improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of

processes, protocols, and workflows across teams, and evaluates the impact on

key stakeholders. 

* Solicits feedback from others on ideas for alternative approaches and methods

for continued improvement.

Performance and Development:

* Contributes to the talent development pipeline by participating in candidate

interviews, assessing candidates, and providing hiring recommendations.

 

Job Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience: 

* 11 years of experience in construction project management in lieu of a

degree. OR

* Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering or a related field,

and 7 years of experience in construction project management. OR 

* Master's degree in construction management engineering or related field, and

3 years of experience in construction project management and Doctorate in

Construction Management, Engineering or related field AND

* 2 years of experience working with operating budgets and/or project

financials

Functional Requirements:

* Data Center Infrastructure Construction: Demonstrated experience coordinating

and managing large-scale data center infrastructure buildouts. 

* Data Center Equipment: Demonstrated experience in installation, maintenance,

and upgrades of data center physical equipment.

* Contract Management: Demonstrated ability to manage the execution and

compliance of contracts for goods and services.

* Technical Leadership: Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership

and mentoring on complex projects.

* Business Acumen: Demonstrated business acumen in making strategic decisions

aligned with organizational goals and industry trends.

* Quality Assurance: Demonstrated ability to plan and carry out quality

assurance activities for high-standard deliverables.

* Technical Writing: Demonstrated proficiency in producing clear and

comprehensible technical documentation for varied audiences.

* Conflict Resolution: Demonstrated ability to identify, address, and resolve

conflicts to maintain positive team dynamics.

* Negotiation: Demonstrated skill in achieving mutually beneficial agreements

through effective negotiation and communication.

* Vendor Management: Demonstrated ability to select, onboard, and manage vendor

relationships to ensure optimal performance.

* Financial Management: Demonstrated experience in supporting budget planning,

tracking, and resource management for business success.

* Program Management: Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional programs,

leading teams and allocating resources for timely project delivery.

* Construction Schedule Management: Demonstrated skill in developing,

monitoring, and adjusting construction project schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the

stated locations only

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $102,300 to $209,500 per annum. May be eligible

for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for

variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as

well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as

well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees

assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is

working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days

annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for

subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees

working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours

per week are not eligible for vacation.

each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap
